The History of Michie Tavern What began as a stage coach stop along a prominent road in colonial Virginia, has become an historic landmark and a destination like no other. With the relocation of the originial tavern building in 1927 a preservation effort began that continues today. The Charlottesville, VA location houses the orginial tavern building, the Ordinary where colonial foods are served, the MetalSmith shop, the Clothier and the General Store. Each shop is housed in a relocated, reconstructed local cabin.
